You Me At Six is a pop-punk British band which came from Weybridge, Surrey. The band is composed of five members namely, Josh Franceschis as the singer, Max Helyer and Chris Miller as the guitarists, Matt Barnes for the bass guitar and Dan Flint for the drums. The band;s other names are YM@S, YMAS, YM@6 and youmeatsix.
This band was founded in 2004. For the first two years that the band was formed, held gigs all throughout UK under the company-- Megabus. Their early songs include Promise, New Jersey, Turbulence is Beautiful and Noises. The one thing that all these songs have in common is the fact that screaming is involved in making music. At first, fans thought that they are just about the screaming however the band showed off their flexibility in music when they performed at one of the best concert tours that they have-- The Liar and The Lighter. In this concert, the band performed acoustic music all throughout.
After 2 years, the band finally got to release their first ever album entitled We Know What's It Like To Be Alone. This album featured a four-track EP. The next year, the band was given another chance to release another album. This album features songs like Noises, Promise, Promise, This Turbulence is Beautiful and Gossip.
During the early years, the band took pride in performing at various gigs and live shows in small venues. Their common spots are the Baseline Studios in Guilford and Facebar in Reading. As time goes by, the band was able to build up a huge fan base who were very much excited to but not only tickets to their shows but their released albums as well. 2007 came and the band was given a chance to perform at bigger venues.
February 2007 marks the first ever breakthrough of the band. This is when they had their first ever sold out concert in Camden Underworld. It was soon followed by an open slot in Slam Dunk Festival.
In 2009, Franceschi revealed in Twitter that their second album Is already finished. This album was released under Virgin Records with the name Hold Me Down. The band continues to produce amazing music one after the other and looks like we will be hearing a lot from them for a long time.
