About Wolfmother

Wolfmother, an Australian hard-rock band, was formed in Sydney, in 2004. The band is an Australian trio which goes back to the early days and gets influence from Black Sabbath. The band’s current members are: Andrew Stockdale (vocals, lead guitar), Ian Peres (keyboards, bass, and vocals) and Vin Steele (drums). Officially, the band was formed in 2004 but it had been jamming for a long time. At the beginning of the band’s journey, it was given chance by Australian record label Modular Recordings. The band was able to release its self-titled album in October 2005. The release was indeed very famous in Australia which earned them a top position on the ARIA Albums Chart. Amazingly, the album did not only take them to popularity but also give them many awards. In 2005, the band was given J Award, and in 2006, ARIA Awards for Best Rock Album. "Woman", a song from the album, was so popular at that time and Wolfmother won a Grammy Award in 2007. In 2008, the band’s lineup was changed. But the new lineup was not a problem for the band and released its second album, “Cosmic Egg” in 2009.

The band’s fame and popularity earned them a number of opportunities and it could tour in many places for concerts. The band produced its latest album, “New Crown”, in 2014.

Wolfmother has been a band that is similar to Blue Cheer, a psychedelic band. The band is also compared to Black Sabbath as well as Led Zeppelin. According to the band’s sources, Jimi Hendrix has been a great influence for the band. It is amazing to know that the band tries hard to go back to the 60s and 70. It proudly announces its interest in the past music style. The band did not leave AC/DCUriah HeepPink Floyd and other rock band from the 70s and 80s and 60s. And because o this, the band is loved by so many fans around the world today. The band gets so many prizes within a very short period of time which many great bands were unable to get. The band received many awards like BRIT Awards, Grammy Awards, Jack Awards, MTV Australia Awards, APRA Awards and ARIA Music Awards.
