About Three Days Grace

Three Days Grace is proof that band mates that stick together, rock in popularity together. The band was originally formed in 1992 and was formerly called Groundswell. Then, the members decided to live separate lives in the year 1995. After 2 years, they regrouped once again. The three-piece Canadian band’s original members are Adam Gontier, guitarist and vocalist; Neil Sanderson, drummer and back-up vocals; and Brad Walst, bassist. Then, they recruited Barry Stock to play as the band’s lead guitarist in 2003.

Three Days Grace’s Humble Beginnings

In their earlier years, the band was known as Groundswell. It was formed in  Norwood, Ontario. Then, Gontier, Sanderson and Walst moved to Toronto. In there, they met a local producer named Gavin Brown. The band gave Brown their past musical arrangements and materials and together, they worked on these musical pieces until they were polished to perfection. After preparing all the musical arrangements, they provided a demo album to EMI Music Publishing Canada. Because of their unique musicality, the records needed to hear more from the band. Soon enough, the band was given a contract under Jive Records.

Three Days Grace’s Musical Hits

Right after signing up a contract under Jive Records, the whole band had to move to Long View Farm. It was a recording studio in Massachusetts where they recorded their album. Then, they released their self-title debut album in 2002. The album received both negative and positive feedback from critics. Despite their accessibility and simplicity, a lot of critics felt their need for a distinguishable kind of music.

Three Day Grace’s Breakthrough

The band’s first single, I Hate Everything About You, became a phenomenal hit. Aside from being played heavily on radios, the song also became a personal favourite of many listeners. Then, it was labelled as the band’s ‘breakout hit’. Not only did the record become a top 9 hit on the Canadian Albums Chart, but it was also certified as a platinum hit by the RIAA and a double platinum hit by the CRIA. Success after that became rapid as their other albums such as One-X, Life Starts Now and Transit of Venus became phenomenal hits.

Three Days Grace at Present

In the year 2007, the band was ranked as the top artist in airplay in all rock genres in the US and Canada. The success of this rock band is undeniable despite Adam Gontier leaving the band. He was replaced by Matt Walt and the band continues to wow the crowd with their amazing performances.
