About The Temper Trap

The indie pop Australian band named The Temper Trap was formed in 2005 on Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The members of band are the vocalist Dougy Mandagi, bassist Jonathon Aherne, drummer Toby Dundas and keyboardist Joseph Greer. Dougy met Jonathan and Toby and then they decided to form a band. Originally they chose the name Temper Temper, but a band of the same name existed in US. The band first played in March 2006 at a festival of St. Jerome’s Laneway.

In late 2006, the band signed a contract with Liberation Music and able to release a debut EP. To promote their album, the band scheduled various concerts and gigs all over Australia. To end their tour in March 2007, they played in Melbourne, Sydney at V Festival and Gold Coast. In 2008, the recording of their first album started. And as they do, they went to UK promoting their music and the band itself. They gained interest from people and other recording companies.

In 2009, The Temper Trap signed with Infectious Records to release their music in Europe. The band gained the 15 th spot as the Sound of the year. By March, the band was able to finish their debut album “Conditions” and was released in June. The band also signed with Glassnote Records for to release their album in US. As it was released, the album reached the 9th spot in ARIA Albums Charts. Then the album was later released in UK by the month of August. Their single “Sweet Disposition” became a big hit in European and Australian Charts. They performed live with different artists in Europe and in various festivals making them gain more listeners. Their second single “Science of Fear” went viral with the help of a music show called “Balcony TV.” The band had to cancel their sold-out shows in Germany in other to perform back in Australia’s ARIA Awards. They have four nominations of the said awarding ceremony.

In 2010, the band went out from festival to festival in UK and in Australia. They won the Song of the Year with APRA awards for the song “Sweet Disposition.” Then they went back to Australia for more concerts. They also won two more awards with ARIA Music Awards for their album and their hit single. In 2011, the band was nominated in BRIT Award for “Best International Breakthrough Artist.” In 2012, the band scheduled tours all over US. They also released their self-titled album in May. Then they follow it up by the released of their music video for the song “Need Your Love.”
