If you make up a group consisting of a video maker, an engineer who composes his own music, a successful solo pianist and a gifted cello player, then you will get it – an outstanding quartet, The Piano Guys. The unusual idea has also an ideological component which is to influence people’s lives in a positive way using just their music videos.
The story started in a small Utah musical shop. Its owner, Paul Anderson, was trying to invent a new way to make his pianos sell better. And guess how the shop was called. The Piano Guys. The owner decided to try the most uo-to-date way of marketing and started his own Facebook page and a YouTube channel. His idea was to make a really popular music video channel where his pianos would be shown. So he started to look for those who would play in his shop showing the instruments in the best light. That was the time when he met Jon Schmidt. By a happy coincidence, Jon, a successful pianist, was giving a concert nearby and walked in The Piano Guys shop to have a little practice. He asked the owner if he could play to prepare for the upcoming show. Paul was so happy and explained his idea to Jon. He loved the idea as it was mutually profitable for both. The pianist was happy to promote the shop and himself at the same time so he agreed at once.
The next member is Sharp Nelson who is a close friend of Jon Schmidt. They met at a piano concert when they were both 15, and soon started to play together at other concerts. They really complimented each other in a very touching way that was well seen by the reaction of the audience. Besides, Steve was a talented multiinstrumentalist whose plying could mesmerize anyone. His cello parties went well with Jon’s piano, and a great duo was born.
The fourth member is Al ban Der Beek. He used to be Steve’s neighbor who once helped him with his relocation. They met, and Al told Steve that he is a studio engineer and showed him his home studio. This was the beginning of a successful collaboration of a technician and a musician.
The band’s success would be incomplete with our Tel Stewart, Jeremy Crawford and Share Scott who produced music videos for them. As the band started with the YouTube videos, someone needed to make them well. Their videos have tricky visual effects and a huge part of kind humor. What makes those videos unique is the miraculous locations where the musicians play.
The Piano Guys are on tour now. The tour date are from the 15 of August till the 16 of December. The Piano Guys events will be in the USA only, without the band leaving the country. The musicians are coming to Texas, Utah, Arizona, Washington D. C. The piano Guys tickets are available online.
