About The Doors

The Doors’s coming was in 1967 with a new kind of musical flavor. This band did not wish to be simply entertainers however they wished to reach people’s heart and give peace and happiness. After forty years or more, the band’s inheritance and influence are still alive. The band had a solid line-up with vocalist Jim Morrison, drummer John Densmore, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, and guitarist Robby Krieger.

Both Morrison and Ray Manzarek were within the same UCLA's film school. And John Densmore and Robbie Krieger were in a native band known as The Psychedelic Rangers and had relation with Manzarek. Along they tried to create something totally different and formed “The Doors”. The name of the band is imitated from “The Doors Of Perception” that is a novel by Huxley. They released their 1st album in 1967 and the title of the album was “The Doors”.

The band was able to release great nine studio albums and 18 singles before the band finally declared to break up in 1972. If they may stay up to 90s then there could be a revolution by this band. However, within a small lifetime of the band, it gave birth to several controversial problems.

Although the band was categorized in blues and rock however it created totally different styles of compositions that embrace flamenco and classical influences. Morrison had an attractive look, wonderful and strange vocals. He was a poet and wrote songs himself. The Doors had typically focused on cryptic lyrics that solely few individuals might understand the real meaning. Morrison was affected by drug addiction that ultimately took him to death in 1971, at age 27. However the official explanation for the early death was said as heart attack.

The band could not continue without Morrison and ultimately broke up in 1972. However in 2002, musician Robby Krieger and keyboardist Ray Manzarek, tried to create the band once more. However owing to some legal matter they were not permitted to use the previous name “The Doors”. So that they started performing at difference places as “Riders On The Storm”. "Riders on the Storm" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in early 2010.
