About The Dead Weather

Created in 2009, The Deadweather are an alternative rock super-group from Nashville, Tennessee. Their edgy aggressive lyrics combined with raw traditional instrumentation form a unique rustic style. Associated acts include The White StripesQueens of the Stone AgeThe Kills and The Raconteurs. Although old-fashioned, the genius of Jack White, Jack Lawrence, Dean Fertita, and Alison Mosshart is undeniable. Their work in previous bands along with the success garnered in The Deadweather solidified their status in the music industry.

In early 2009, Jack White became ill on tour and asked Mosshart to fill in. The talented female singer obliged and performed several songs for White and his band The Raconteurs. Afterwards, White invited her and a few others back to his studio for a jam session. In the spring of that year, he added the other members of the group and they began a recording session. Jack White played drums; haven rediscovered them while collaborating with Alicia Keys. Mosshart sang, Lawrence played bass, and Fertita rocked the guitar and keyboards. It only took 3 weeks for the quartet to finish their first record, HoreHound. Upon the release in July, it reached the top 20 on US and UK Billboard charts. The record featured three singles and began a cult following for the super-group. Jack White followed the debut album with a DVD, Full Flesh Blank, featuring three live songs.

In 2010, the band dropped their equally successful follow-up album, Sea of Cowards. The record scored big points with fans and critics. Rolling Stone Magazine named it one of the best albums of the year. They followed by touring in the US and the UK, their time often being split between The Deadweather and their other projects. Their hit single “Rolling in on a Burning Tire” featured on the popular vampire series, Twilight.

In 2014, the band announced that Jack White had begun working on new music and they should have something ready by 2015. Members are currently working with their other projects and taking breaks. The Deadweather does not have any current shows available at this time.
