About Taio Cruz
On April 23, 1985, Jacob Taio Cruz was born in London, England. He is a singer-songwriter, entrepreneur, rapper and record producer. He produced Pop, R&B and Dance Music. His father was Nigerian and his mother was Brazilian. He started writing songs by the age of twelve. He then started a career out of it when he was nineteen. He was part of a writing collective of Red Zone Entertainment. He received a Brit Award in 2005 for co-writing the song “Your Game” by Will Young.
In 2006, Taio Cruz founded Rokstarr Music London. And then, Taio launched his first single “I Just Wanna Know”. This track was aired in various radio stations. In 2007, “Moving On” was his second single released. It reached the 30th spot in UK. In 2008, his third single “Come On Girl” was released in March, it features Luciana. This song instantly reached the 5th spot in UK hit charts. Taio Cruz released “Departure”, his debut album. He personally composed the content of his album, he arranged it, and he also produced it. His hard work paid off since it was a success in UK and he was nominated a MOBO Award.
In 2009, “Rokstarr” album was released. The album has two hit songs entitled “Dynamite” and “Break Your Heart”. Within a week, “Break Your Heart” was included the Billboard Hot 100. Meanwhile, “Dynamite” peaked at the second spot in Billboard Hot 100. “Dynamite” was nominated as Best British Single and received three awards with Billboards. Taio Cruz worked with Kesha and Fabulous for the track “Dirty Picture”. He also worked with Kylie Minogue and Travie McCoy for the track “Higher”.
In 2011, Taio Cruz contributed a soundtrack for the animated movie entitled “Rio”. The song was entitled “Telling The World”. This year he also released his album “TY.O” initially Germany, than in UK and US. He included the song “Fast Car” for the US released album. In 2012, Taio Cruz wrote the song “Without You” together with David Guetta. In August, Taio Cruz closed the ceremony of Summer Olympics. He sang his song “Dynamite”. He also sang with Jessie J and Tinie Tempah for the song “Written in the Stars” In 2013, he released “Kewe” app for iOS users. It posts announcements and updates about him. Then he decided to release another version of the app for android users. In 2014, he released his fourth album “#Black” within the first quarter of the year.
