About Swedish House Mafia

The Swedish group was formed in 2008. Steve Angello, Axwell, and Sebastian Ingrosso were the trio that focuses on electronic dance music. Angello and Ingrosso were childhood friends in Stockholm. Axwell joined after their chance meeting with him.

By November 2010, the group presented their DVD documentary “Take One” After 2 years visiting 15 countries and over 253 events, they were able to produce this documentary. Christian Larson and Henrik Hanson were their directors. The directors said that the film was not narrated; it was their real life experience and story for their two years of hard work. The crew just followed them around showing their characters on film. The tapping started when they recorded “Leave the World Behind” in a studio with Laidback Luke. And the film ended at the premiere of their song “One” at the Ultra Music Festival 2010. Their albums were “Until One” 2010 and “Until Now” 2012.

On 2011, they earned the tenth spot in DJ Magazine: Top 100 DJ Poll. And a year after, with the same magazine, they dropped down to the twelfth spot. Later that event, there are rumors that they would split up. And by June 2012, they announced that the rumor is true. They will end their “Take One” tour by August and will be reunited for their farewell tour on March 2013, with the title “One Last Tour.” After this tour, the group said that they will still have another documentary film entitled “Leave the World Behind.” They said that the reason why they split up was because they need to know their next step, with their previous success they did not quite figure out yet what’s the next plan. Their final performance was opening and closing the Ultra Music Festival 2013 event.

An unfortunate event happened on July 2012. As they performed in Phoenix Park, Dublin, chaos took over as the crowd experience several unprovoked attacks. Nine people, teenagers and in their twenties, got stabbed. One girl witnessed his boyfriend being stabbed five times. Another boy was stabbed in the back four times, leaving him in critical condition. Three boys died with an unknown cause of death. The group and other performers were unaware of the incidents during the event. They found out later and let the investigation took place. Some critics said it must be the music they played that lead people to do such horrible things, but the investigation further said that some people attended that event was intoxicated with drugs and alcohol.
