About Stromae

A Belgian singer songwriter Paul Van Haver was born on the 12th of March 1985, he is now known as Stromae. He was raised in Brussels, Belgium. His father was a Rwandan and his mother is a Flemish. During the 1994 Tutsi Genocide, his father was killed. His mother was left to raise him. He develop his passion to music when he was eleven years old. Then he became a student of Académie musicale de Jette, studying music history and had some drum lessons. Stromae had to work part-time to provide and continue his private school education. Still, his performance at school did not reach the standard. After that he studied at Institut national de radioélectricité et cinématographie. Stromae confirmed his relationship with Tatiana Silva. She won the title of being Miss Belgium. But their relationship ended in 2012.

His first stage name was Opmaestro in 2000. “Suspicion” was a rap group that he founded. In 2007, Stromae fully concentrate on his career, after transferring schools, his first ever album was "Juste un cerveau, un flow, un fond et un mic..." In 2008, Stromae was able to sign a four year contract with label companies Because Music and Kilomaître. Stromae finally got his breakthrough on 2009, when a music manager was astonished by Stromae’s single “Alors on danse”. The music manager, Vincent Verbelen, aired this single and got great response from its listeners. Few of the first listeners of his music was Jean-Claude Van Damme, Anna Wintour and the French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Within a week his song reached the top one in Belguim. To reach the worldwide market Stromae signed a contract with Vertigo Records. And by 2010, his single became number one all over Europe. He was also able to collaborate with Kanye West. And able to be nominated in MTV Europe Music Awards in the category of Best Dutch and Belgian Act. On 2011 he won the European Border Breakers Award. Stromae released two studio albums entitled “Cheese” on 2011 and “Racine Carrée on 2013.

Stromae has schedule concerts for the rest of the year of 2014. By August he will be in Hungary and Austria. On September and early October, he will have thirteen concerts in US, two in Canada. After that, he will be in France for the rest of the month of October until November. Then he will also go to Belgium and Netherlands. And he will end his 2014 tour in Germany, Switzerland, United Kingdom and Italy.
