Slayer is considered a very sophisticated thrash metal band. Slayer has been continuing its music since 1981 with great popularity. Slayer had come into existence in 1982. The founder members include King and Jeff Hanneman who later on took Tom Araya (bassist/vocalist), and Dave Lombardo (drummer). The band primarily started their journey covering Judas Priest or even Iron Maiden and other popular metal bands. But soon they could realize that they would like to be more aggressive than those prevailing metal bands. So they emphasized on more violent, satanic and threatening music.
The band got a call to contribute in “Metal Massacre III” which was a great opportunity for Slayer. In 1985, they released “Hell Awaits” which actually was an album about damnation. The band signing up with Def Jam and could produce “Reign in Blood”. But because of extreme graphical violence, CBS at first denied to publicize the album to the public. But this rather publicizes the album more than they imagined. Slayer suddenly became one of the fastest and extreme heavy metal bands that was not similar to any band of that era or rock, pop and pure metal. The acceptance of the band’s album was similar to the acceptance of Metallica’s album.
Slayer became very popular with the release of the album. The band toured so many places and became internationally famous. And gradually the band tried to do more experiments with music. The nest album was a response against their previous album “Reign in Blood”. This time they tried to minimize the tempo and control the speed.
“Divine Intervention and Undisputed Attitude” was done with new member Bostaph (drummer). But he could not stay for a long time and replaced by Jon Dette. In 1998, the band released “Diabolus in Musica” which sold more than 46,000 copies. The next albums “God Hates Us All” and “Christ Illusion” and World Painted Blood were also popular and sold worldwide. Slayer is one of the pioneers in thrash and heavy metal bands. The band has got its reputation still alive.
