About Sia

Sia Kate Isobelle Furler better known as Sia was born on the 18th of December 1975 in Adelaide, Australia. She graduated Adelaide High School in 1994. He was raised and mainly influenced by her musician father, Phil Colson, and singer song-writer mother, Loene Furler. Her parents were members of the band The Soda Jerx.

At the age of seventeen, Sia joined Crisp, a jazz-funk band. Crisp released Word and the Deal album on 1996 and Delerium on 1997. After releasing Delerium, Sia split up with the band and pursued a solo career. She released her debut album Only See, selling over one thousand two hundred copies. Sia was featured on one of the episodes of Home and Away show, she sang How To Breathe. Sia had a boyfriend named Dan and they planned to travel all over the world. She was on her way to London when she received tragic news; her boyfriend was killed in a car accident. She lived with Dan’s friends in a boarding house.

2000. Sia was a back-up singer of the band Jamiroquai when she was in London. Sia signed a contract with Sony Music’s Dance Pool label. A year after, she released her second album Healing Is Difficult. Most of the songs were co-written by Sia. “Drink To Get Drunk” and “Little Man” became a big hit in UK clubs. “Taken For Granted” reached the number ten spot in UK Singles Chart for five weeks. The inspiration of the lyrics of her song was the death of her boyfriend Dan. Sia stated that she felt numb after Dan died. She won the title Breakthrough Songwriter on 2002’ APRA Awards.

2003. Colour the Small One album was released. It was first released in AUS and then in Europe. She changed her style in music and was compared to Dido and Sarah McLachlan. “Where I Belong” single was one of the soundtracks of Spider Man 2.

2005. Her single “Breathe Me” was used in the finale of HBO’s series Six Feet Under and BBC’s show Luther, and was played in Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

2007. Sia released her album Lady Croissant which is recorded live in her concert at New York. Her single “Day Too Soon” reached the 24th spot on Billboard.

2008. Some People Have Real Problems album was released. Her single “Little Black Sandals” was played in a TV series Private Practice.

2010. Sia collaborated with Christina Aguilera for her album Bionic. Her single “Bound To You” received a nomination at the Golden Globe Awards for Best Original Song.

Most of Sia’s songs were used in different movie and series soundtracks.
