About Shogun

Shogun (or Andrew Chen in real life) is an up and coming Taiwanese DJ, who was born and grew up in America.His name was eminent for being the first Asian artist that was signed under the popular record label S107/Armada.

Early Influences and Career Beginnings

At an early age, Shogun was inclined already into music, listening to the sounds of Prodigy, Chemical Brothers and Nine Inch Nails.However, it was only in the early part of 2000s that Shogun discovered the trance music which has inspired him to start his own musical career.After being exposed to the music of Armin Van Buuren and Gouryella, Shogun started hanging out in studios for long hours and began his own music production.

His efforts has definitely paid off, with several of his original singles including “Skyfire”, "Imprisoned", “Save Me" and "Run To My Rescue” gaining popularity in the music scenes.Shogun has also received support from fellow music artists including Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten, Paul Van Dyk, Gareth Emery and Markus Schulz.Shogun has also performed remixes for one of his great influences, Armin Van Buuren, proving that dreams actually come true with the right amount of determination and effort.

Career Highlights

In his young career, Shogun has already put up five hit singles in the Future Favorite segment of the weekly radio show, A State of Trance, hosted by Buuren himself.In addition, Shogun’s songs are repeatedly played in other radio shows around the globe including Global DJ Broadcast, Trance around the World, Corsten’s Countdown and Vonyc Sessions.

He is also a resident DJ and performs in live gigs in one of the most popular nightclub in the world, the Ministry of Sound in London.His energetic performances that run for extended hours is a must-see show, and are even aired live in the nightclub’s own radio show.

He has also shared his craft and collaborated with Grammy-nominated artist Nadia Ali, for the songs “Ride with Me”and “Must be the Love”.

In the 2010 survey of the top DJ’s in the world by DJ Mag, Shogun was voted at the 231st spot.Just two years after, he landed among the top 100 DJs for the 2012 poll of the same magazine.This is a considerable leap, and only proved that his followings are growing year after year and that there is no stopping the early career of Shogun which is expected to continue blooming in the near future.
