About Red

Red Hot Chili Peppers became very popular and well respected because of their uniqueness and success in combining beautifully different genres like sexy and punk. One of their most popular and earliest track was entitled Party on Your Pussy. It was a huge hit during the eighties. But as the years passed by, the group switched into a more lyrical and laid back sounds.

How the Group Started?

Long before their named was changed to Red Hot Chili Peppers, they were called Tony Flow and Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem. Original members include Kiedis, Flea, Slovak, and Irons. However, Irons and Slovak immediately left to form another group. New members like Martinez and Sherman joined the band before the release of their debut album in 1984. It wasn’t a big success. Slovak has decided to return and everything else followed.

Highlights of their Career

The group’s very first hit called BloodSugarSexMagikranked 3rd in 1991. Their carrier single was “Under the Bridge” and “Give It Away”. Both were actually included in the top charts. This album was produced by Rick Rubin and has sold over 4 million copies.

In 1995, the group released One Hot Minute and it was awarded platinum. But despite its success, it didn’t beat the status created by BloodSugarSexMagik.

After several break-ups and reunions of Red’s members, the group continued to creatememorable music. In 1999, they released Californication. It became a huge hit and led to the return of Red Hot Chili Pepper to the grand stage and charts. There came more hit tracks like “Otherside” and “Scar Tissue”.

The band released By The Way in 2002. Four years later, Stadium Arcadium was released and gave the group the prestigious Grammys for Best Rock Album, Best Rock Performance by a Group or Duo with Vocal, Best Rock Song, and Best Producer for Rubin.

The group did several other performances but members continue to come and go. The group’s follow up to Stadium Arcadium was released last 2010.

Controversies

The band’s lifestyle had received some publicity. Kiedis was convicted of sexual battery and rude exposure after their performed in 1989. It was during their taping for an MTV in Florida, Flea grabbed a woman and carried her on his shoulders while Smith is spanking her. Both were charged of lascivious acts.
