About Plain White T's

Formed in 1997, Plain White T’s (PWT) are a modern punk rock band from Villa Park, Illinois. Their style resembles the skinny-jean wearing music of the early 2000s. Similar acts include Red Jumpsuit ApparatusThe Used, and Fall Out Boy. The trio started in high school, when Tom Higginson, Dave Tirio, and Ken Fletcher began playing together. The trio played in garages and friend’s houses until they added guitarist Steve Mast. Afterwards, they began playing at local clubs and bars in the Villa Park area. Before their career could take off, Higginson suffered a major car accident, which led to him concentrating harder on music. In 2000, the group put together their first music project titled, Come on Over. The unsolicited record sold to local fans garnering a small following in the Villa Park area.

Two years later, PWT’s released their first full length album, Stop. Again, the record didn’t have representation; yet, it did gain the attention of Fearless Records. The label inked PWT’s to their first major record deal. Later, the group toured to support their album; however, hard times forced Fletcher and Mast out. Tim Lopez and Mike Retondo replaced the pair and the band began a new path of success.

In 2005, the band came out of the studio with a gold record in hand. All that We Needed released scoring big points with fans and critics. To their delight, the popular single “Hey There Delilah,” became one of the most requested songs by teen girls. Later, it reached No. 1 on billboard charts and stayed there for weeks. The group followed by going on a 4 month tour to support their album.

After returning to the studio, in 2008 they dropped their next album, Big Bad World. The record matched the success of their 05 release and featured two hit singles. Later, they embarked on their first worldwide tour, which landed them a slot at the Give it a Name Festival in the United Kingdom. Once they returned home, they underwent an American tour with Panic! At the Disco and Dashboard Confessional.

In 2010, PWT’s dropped their third album. The Wonders of the Younger received modest success and continued their popularity. The next year they released an EP featuring 4 songs and also announced an upcoming album. They are currently working on their next project that is due sometime in 2014.
