About Passion Pit
Passion Pit is an American band that was formed on 2007 in Cambridge, Massachussetts that comprises with Michael Angelakos (Lead vocalist, keyboardist), Xander Singh (synthesizer), Jeff Apruzzese (Bassist, synth bassist), Ian Hultquist (keyboardist, guitarist) and Chris Hartz (drummer, percussionist). They met in Berklee College of Music in Boston where they studied and they discovered each other when Angelakos (who studied in Emerson College) composed a song dedicated to his girlfriend and performed it as a Valentine’s Day gift to her after that Ian approached Angelakos and they shared the same interest in music, eventually they formed the band together with the other members.
In the year 2008, they released their first EP called “Chunk of Change” on 16th of September through Frenchkiss and Columbia records. It reached number 35 in US Top Heatseekers and number 58 in France along with the EP they also introduced their single called “Sleepyhead” that peaked at number 71 in Canadian Hot 100 Chart.
One year later, they launched their first debut album entitled “Manners” on May 15, 2009 that was produced by Chris Zane. The album’s single was “The Reeling”, “To Kingdom Come” and “Little Secrets” in which they collaborated with Mary O’Hara, Nate Donmoyer and a lot more. It was also released in other countries including in France, Australia and Japan as well as in Italy, UK, Germany and US through Sony Music. In the same year, they also do remix for Pheonix’s song ‘1901’ and ‘Love Like a Sunset also ‘Heads Will Roll’ by Yeah Yeah Yeah.
The band followed their 2nd album called “Gossamer” on July 20, 2012 that was recorded in Los Angeles as well as in New York City in the year 2011. It contains the songs ‘Take a Walk’, ‘I’ll Be Alright’, ‘Carried Away” and ‘Constant Conversation” in which it was composed by Michael Angelakos. It peaked at number 2 in US Alternative Albums along with US Rock Albums while number 4 in US Billboard 200. They were featured in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part 2 Soundtrack called “Where I Come From” and Frankenweenie Unleashed “Almost There” in the year 2013.
Passion Pit was included in Triple J Hottest 100 as well as number 46 in Hottest 100 Tracks of the Year. as they performed in many countries including in Tampa, Florida along with West Palm Beach and most specially in Glastonbury Festival 2009 in Pilton, Somerset, England. we can say that the band accomplished what they want to accomplished through their hardworking and making songs that will spread all over the world.
