Isa pair of artist “originally” from Australia, Parachute Youth consists of Matthew K. Von and Johnny Castro. They started out the group in December 2011 and specialize in indie music. The name of the duo is inspired from previous Matt’s work as an “Avionics Technician” in “the land down under” air force. He’s working on jet fighters thus a parachute name inspiration is born. Johnny is a self taught artist that showed at celebrations such as “Big Day Out” with local outfit “Def Starr” with little triumph with their remix of “Fences” by Phoenix. After months of artistic collaboration they left everything and the duo moved to Europe to continue their music career and have some new music, which came out late in 2013. Their labels include Warner Music, Ultra Music and Sweat It Out.
In a couple of years of musical brainstorming, KVon and JC afterward teamed up with “Ajax” from “Sweat It Out Records”. Ajax recruited “Sam La More” to work out the single “Can’t Get Better Than This”. They faced hurdle at first but soon, “Parachute Youth” Prevailed. The result is a wonderful hypnotic of life celebration, their debut track roars with unrestrained joy, dark glum and drama altogether. The boys mentioned their greatest influences include The Human League, Joy Division/New Order, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, Bjork, Moloko, The Stone Roses, and The Cure. Their musical style and sound is entirely modern and contemporary different.
On January 28, 2012, Parachute Youth released their first track “Can’t Get Better Than This” in Australia and became a chart topper in Belgium. “Can’t Get Better Than This” was the “debut song played” on “Triple J” radio in 2012. The track complements the film clip shot by “French clip producer” Juliene Paolini was a hit in YouTube. Due to the growing “internet hype” the band is getting, the “Empire of the Sun” take noticed and showcased it on its “own social media” thus garnering more exposure and popularity for the music track. As of the moment the track collected more than 1.7 million views on YouTube, a feat that made the track a break out hit and the duo as electrifying that makes a lot of noise.
On January 16, 2014, they released their second single entitled “Runaway” and parted ways on February 04, 2014.
