P.O.D as Payable on Death is an American Christian metal band that was formed on 1992 in San Diego, California with the members Sonny Sandoval (lead vocalist), Wuv Bernardo (drummer, percussionist, rhythm guitarist and backing vocals), Marcos Curiel (lead guitarist, programming and backing vocals) and Traa Daniels (Bass guitarist and backing vocals) together with Luis Castillo (keyboardist and backing vocals) and Tim Pacheco (backing vocalist, trumpeter and keyboardist) as an addition in Touring members. Their name was derived from the concept of their Christianity Theology that “Jesus Died on the cross, their depths had been paid for”. Santana, Bob Marley, The Police and Red Hot Chili Peppers music was also a big impact in their band.

In 1991, Marcos Curiel and Wuv Bernardo played together but no vocalists and they called their partnership as “Eschastos” and they performed in Metallica as well as Slayer. Later on, Sonny, Gabe Portillo and Traa Daniels joined the band and eventually, they signed a recording contract with Rescue Records. Their 1st studio album was called “Snuff the Punk” that was released on January 25, 1994 through Rescue Records and it was produced by Noah Bernardo Sr. It comprises of 12 tracks including “Coming Back”, “Abortion is Murder” (Hidden Track) and “Three in the Power of One’.

The band’s 2nd album was called “Brown” that was launched on October 8, 1996 and a special edition was released on the year 2000. 3 years later they came up with “The Fundamental Elements of Southtown” through Atlantic Records that was produced by Howard Benson. It was ranked at number 51 in Billboard 200 and reached a platinum album. They collaborated with Lisa Papineau in the song “Hollywood” and “Bullet the Blue Sky” in which was included as the single of the album. Next album was “Satellite” that was out on 11th of September 2001.

On the 5th album of the band called “Payable on Death” that was released on November 4, 2003 and produced by Howard Benson. However, the album was banned in the Christian Bookstore all over the US due to its occult cover. But moreover, the album was sold 520,000 copies and was recognized as Certified Gold Record. P.O.D is continuing their career, as they performed in different events including in Spring Jam Fest, Rock of Allegiance tour as well as in different countries like Australia, South Brazil, Chile and on South America as well.
