About Nightwish

Night wish is a metal band which came from Kitlee, Finland. The band was formed by their lead singer and keyboardist, tumosa Holopainen in 1996. The band is composed of the following members: Emppu Vuorinen for the guitars and Tarja Turunen for the vocals. After some time, the band added a few members namely Jukku nevalainen for the drums and Sami Vanska for the bass. after the release of their first ever album, the addition was done and later on they replaced one of their team members. In 2002, Vasnka was replaced by "Marco Hietala". He became the male vocalist of the band as well. Their first ever album was released in 2002 with the title of “Angels Fall First”.

Even if the band has garnered great attention in their hometown after the production of their 1st album, it was only after the release of their subsequent album that they were able to achieve worldwide recognition. These albums are as follows: "Oceanborn" in 1998, "Wish master" in 2000, Ocean Child in 2002, and many more.

In 2004, the band released their fifth album with the title of “Once” which sold over a million of copies worldwide. This album was also their key to unlocking their US-based audience. The biggest hit single that they had in the US is entitled “Wish I Had An Angel”. This single has gotten an MTV Airplay. In addition to that, this was also included on 3 US film soundtracks used to promote their concert tours all over the US. In 2005, they have also released a compilation album entitled “Highest Hopes”. This was released before Turunen was dismissed form the band.

In 2007, the band recruited Anette Olzon as replacement for Turunen. It was also during the same year that the band launched their sixth album with the title of “Dark Passion Play”. The hit single in this album is entitled “Amaranth” and it has become a successful single in the whole of Europe. For two years, the band went on their biggest supporting tour yet. In 2012, the band released their seventh album entitled “imaginaerum”.

All over the Finland music industry, it is Night wish that was declared as the third best selling band with about 900, 000 copies of album sold.
