NERO shattered the electronic music industry in 2010 although the band started back in 2002. The original members of the band, Daniel Stephens and Joe Ray were both born in 1984. The two met Alana, the third member of the band when they were 18 years old, however she did not join the group not until 2008. Their love and passion for electronic music placed them among the top bands of 2009 based from Sasha Frere-Jones, a New York journalist who placed them among her list in her “New Yorker Magazine”.
Using Stephens’ bedroom as their first studio, the two started making their dreams and the idea of making their own songs were cemented. In 2004 they released Space 2001; however it was in 2010 when the trio became a hit with the release of their single “Innocence” under the “Welcome Reality” studio album. The album smashed the UK chart, peaking at number 167; they were then nominated at BBC’s Sound of 2011 where the band performed.
Since their emergence in the limelight, the band was able to record and release 1 studio album, 16 singles, and 7 music videos. They also got nominated and won a total of 9 awards from different musical organizations from 2010 to 2013. It all started with “Act Like You Know”. This won the “Best Dubstep Track Award”. Nero on the other hand received the “Best Dubstep Act 0f 2010” which was given by Beatports Awards. In 2011, they won the Best Dubstep Producers and Best Dubstep DJs which both given by Drum and Bass Awards. Followed by Welcome Reality as the Best Album of 2011 by Dubstep Music Awards UK; in the same year they got nominated as well in Q Awards as the Best New Act; they also got a nomination in2011 for their single Promises as the Best Contemporary Song by Ivor Novello Awards; in 2012 they bag the “Best International Dubstep Act of Dubstep Music Awards North America”. In 2013, they even won the Grammy Award as the Best Remixed Recording.
Today the band has already started touring, with a total of 7 concerts mostly in the UK and US. They will start touring in July 31 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison CO, followed by August 1 concert at Miami Beach Florida, August 22 and 24 at Richfield Avenue, Reading UK, Leeds Festival 2014 at Bramham Park, Wetherby UK, and August 23 they will be back at Richfield Avenue, Reading UK, and ending the 2014 concert at L’Astrolabe, Orleans France December 5.
