About My Darkest Days

Formed in 2005, My Darkest Days is a Canadian post-grunge rock band from Peterborough, Canada. Similar acts include, Nickleback, Blacklabel Society, and Three Days Grace. Their style resembles the modern rock sound found on mainstream radio stations.

In the mid-2000s, founder Matt Walst began forming the group after his brother gained success with Three Days Grace. First he acquired a rhythm section with drummer Doug Oliver and bassist Brandan McMillan. Then the trio added guitarist Chris McMillian, to be later replaced by Paulo Neta. In 2009, Sal Costa replaced Neta, so he could work on a side project. Once together, the band entered the Canadian music scene.

The group began performing and gained the attention of fellow Canadian rocker, Chad Kroeger. The singer enjoyed their music so much he inked My Darkest Days to a record deal. The band entered the studio and began work on their first single “Porn Star Dancing.” The Nickleback singer decided he and former Ozzy guitarist Zack Wylde should assist on the single. The two rock stars collaborated with My Darkest Days and appeared on the music video. In 2010, the group finished the album and released the single “Set it to Fire,” featuring popular female guitarist Orianthi. My Darkest Day’s debut song “Porn Star Dancing” topped billboard charts. After the album release the band went on tour, which resulted in a car accident in 2011. Fortunately, everyone appeared healthy and only one show became canceled.

In 2012, My Darkest Days dropped their sophomore album, Sick and Twisted Affair. The record received modest success and featured 3 singles. Afterwards, the group performed with Nickleback, Bush, and Seether in support of their new release. In 2013, My Darkest Days began work on a new album but Walst left to assist Three Days Grace on tour. One year later, Three Days Grace announced Walst would be the permanent singer and they had new music coming. Currently both bands are in the process of recording a new album.
