Marcus Mumford took initiative to form a nice band and he thought about performance that could take the band to the pick of success. Mumford & Sons was managed by Marcus Mumford. The band included members like Ben Lovett who is a multi-instrumentalist (accordion, vocals, keyboards, and drums), Winston Marshall (guitarist and vocals) and another guitarist Ted Dwane. Their fans used to consider the band as "West London folk scenes" but Marcus Mumford said that the band is not involved in such activities.
The band found great chance to deal with Management Company “Everybody's” which helped the band in many ways. The band did not have any album yet but performed in so many places like Australia, UK and US. When the band started gaining some fans, they realized that they should do some studio work together. With the help of Markus Dravs, the Mumford & Sons began composing for their debut album. The album was a self financed album which did not have any technical materials. But later they got opportunity with some other labels in 2009. And they could release their debut album at the end of that year. The album contained "Little Lion Man" as the first single which was popular.
Mumford and Sons started receiving appreciations and popularity from many parts of the world. Their song "Little Lion Man" became known to many places. And this was performed in so many shows in 2010. The band became one of the best bands in Australia at that time and won many prizes including ARIA Music Award in 2010. Their contribution to music also took them to the nominations of Grammy for Best New Artist as well as Best Rock Song (for "Little Lion Man") in 2010. So 2010 was a grand time for the band’s overall recognition.
In UK, the band’s popularity rose around in 2011. They toured in US in the same year. The next albums’ concept was made in Tennessee. They could release the album in 2011 but due to so many shows, the album was released in 2012. The title of the album was "Babel". This album sold so many copies. In US, it sold over 600,000 albums in its first week.
