MT EDEN (BAND)
Mt. Eden (formerly known as Mt Eden Dubstep) is a production duo that was formed on New Zealand comprising Jesse Cooper and Harley Rayner. At the age of 12, they met and shared their insights about music and eventually they begin making mixtapes during end of the week. They were inspired by Benga as well as Skream in which they change their genres from hip-hop to dubsteps as well as drum and bass.
They gained their popularity during the released of their songs called “Sierra Leone” in the album Dubstep/DnB Collection that was introduced on January 1, 2009 that comprises 20 tracks including the remix of Hektic Harly Harl Remix called “Over Dose” aside from that it includes the song “Beautiful Lies” and “I’ll be There For You”.
They launched a self-released compilation album called “Mt Eden” on 1st of January that includes their remixes for the other artists and band including the dub step mix for “Omen” by The Prodigy, Frozen of Madonna and their song Beautiful Lies.
The idea of making a YouTube page was came from Rayner’s brother and it happens; it was called “MtEdenDnB 08” and they got the remix of Delerium’s song “Silence” as well as “Still Alive: by Lisa Miskovsky’s in which it was the most viewed that got 40 million views. While in the year 2010, they launched their album called “Meds” on 8th of December in consist of 6 tracks such as “What’s Below”, “Gambler” along with “Torn Apart”.
In the following years, they released the Sierra Leone an Ephixa Remix on January 1, 2011 while some artists produced also their remixed version of the song including the artists Tommie Sunshine together with Live City, AraabMuzik and Ta-Ku and 2 years after, they released an EP entitled “Walking On Air” through Ultra Records, LLC on June 18, 2013. They collaborated with Phoebe Ryan in the song “Chasing” also they featured Freshly Ground in the Orchestral Version of their song “Sierra Leone”, plus Diva ice for “Air Walker”.
Like the other artists, they also performs across US and other countries like in San Antonio US together with DJ Andrew Parsons as well as in New Zealand, Canada, France with Zeds Dead, Dirtyphonics and 2 others more. The duo is presently in the contract with Ultra Music in which they will release more albums for the future and they will continue performing around the world.
