Whether it’s funk or ballads, Maroon 5 will indeed steal your heart and make you dance to their groovy beats.
Who is this 5?
Maroon 5 is a pop rock band that was formed in Los Angeles, California. It was formed in late 1994, with Kara’s Flowers as its first band name. Lead singer Adam Levine together with Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick signed with Reprise Records and released their first album in 1997 with the title The Fourth World.
How they became famous
Although their first album wasn’t a big success, Maroon 5 bounced back in 2000, bringing with them new influences. In 2002, John Mayer offered them to open up for him after hearing their songs in Berklee College of Music. Their hit single Harder to Breathe then became a regular in radio stations and started to escalate their rise to stardom. It later became the longest album in the Billboard charts, staying at number 6 for 26 months.
For the next three years, the band travelled around 15 countries spreading their music further thus making them more famous. They also toured with Cowboy Mouth,Gavin DeGraw,Matchbox Twenty,Sugar Ray,Counting Crows,Phantom Planet,The Hives,Dashboard Confessional, Michelle Branch and other well -known music artists. However their drummer Ryan Dusick had to left the band because of an aggravated sports injury due to touring schedules. He was later replaced by Matt Flynn, former drummer of B-52.
In 2006, Maroon 5 released their second Album entitled It Won’t Be Soon Before Long which emanated a more sexier blend. Others call it a stronger and kinkier first album, but no matter they say, it’s single Makes Me Wonder claimed the number one spot in iTunes for being the most downloaded single and video. It also made 50,000 digital pre-sales and claimed the number 1 spot in the Billboard Hot List.
In 2008, the band released their third album entitled Hands All Over which made another impressive run in the charts. Album hits include Moves Like Jagger and Stereo Hearts which gave them their first AMA award for best Pop band. Sadly in 2012, Jesse Carmichael announced that he would be on hiatus for the time being to pursue his studies. Later that year, Maroon 5’’s single Payphone featuring Wiz Khalifa made it to the number one spot beating Call Me Maybe by Carlie Rae Jepsen and Gangnam Style by Psy.
