About Lorde

Ella Marije Lani Yelich- O’Cononor is pop singer, songwriter born on November 7, 1996 in  Auckland, New Zealand. She discovered by A&R Scout Scott Maclachlan while working in Universal. At the age of 13 and 14 she started her passion on writing a song, her mother’s poet inspired her to become a songwriter. 

The Life 

Lorde is born in Takapuna and raised in Devonport by Vic O’Connor (Father) and Sonja Yelich (Mother), she had 3 siblings (two sisters and a brother). Lorde discover her first love in singing and acting when she was 5 years old with her friend into a school drama group. And at the age of 13 she signed a contract to Universal Music Group (UMG) and this company hired coach Frances Dickinson to be her coach for a year.

This young artist had the opportunity to be paired with Joel Little (songwriter, former lead singer of Goodnight Nurse and also a record producer). In the year 2012 she released “The Love Club” herself account in SoundClound. Her song got 60,000 download the UMG company made this for sales commercially. One year later it had been released in Australia and got Septuple Platinum, in US, and New Zealand (Platinum).

Lorde released her single title “Royals” on 3 June 201, few months her single became top in US Alternative Songs chart and at this chance Lorde is the youngest popstar singer and a soloist in New Zealand that top in Us Chart, UK Single Chart and Candian Chart. Her single became viral that won the 2013 APRA Silver scroll Award (Songwriter Award) and she won Best Pop Solo Performance in Grammy awards and Song of the Year. She is the third Youngest winner in history of Grammy Awards and got many awards because of her young age she reached the limelight. 


In the year, She released a debut album title “Pure Heoine” and as expected it reached the top in chart in many countries that sold 1.33 million copies so that it got platinum by Recording Industry association of America (RIAA). Not only that “Pure Heroine” is nominated in Grammy Awards.

Lorde second single is “tennis Court” (number one in the Singles Chart in New Zealand), third single released title “Team” got top ten in the Australia, US, Canada and New Zealand. Her songs are featured in the movie “The Hunger Games: catching Fire”. Afterwards, Lorde got the big opportunity to be a part of Songs Music Publishing for 2.5million dollars. 

In year 2014, Lorde got a relationship with a photographer James Lowe that she met in her musical industry. She helps the victim of Typhoon Haiyan through her song “The Love Club” which is included in the compilation of the songs that helps those affected people in the Philippines through the Philippines Red Cross.
