About Les Soeurs Goadec
Les soeurs Goadec were a singing trio of three Breton sisters: Maryvonne Goadec (1900-1983), Anasthasie Goadec (c.1913-1998), and Eugénie Goadec (1909-2003). Originally from Treffrin (Côtes-d'Armor), they began to perform traditional Breton songs at festoù-noz (traditional Breton festivals of song and dance) in 1956, and gained renewed fame and popularity in the Breton revival of the 1960s. They specialised in Breton songs and gwerzioù (ballads or laments), they also developed a three-voice version of the Kan ha diskan (call-and-response singing) as songs for dancing.
