About Leona Lewis

Leona Louise Lewis, a British songwriter and singer, was born in April 3, 1985. When she was young, she was enrolled at the Sylvia Young Theater School. During her early school years, she was taught to play different types of instruments like the guitar and the piano. At the age of 12, she was already able to write a full-length song. She first started with opera but eventually fall for jazz. At 17 years old, she worked many jobs in order to fund her studio time and she was able to record a demo album which she entitled “Twilight”. She sent some of her albums to different music record company and yet, she did not succeeded in landing a contract. Since she was not able to catch the attention of talent scouts, she decided to leave the music world and attended the university instead. In 2006, she was persuaded by her then boyfriend to join the X factor and the rest was history.

She gained popularity when she won the X factor (third series) in the year 2006. In 2007, she launched her first album entitled “Spirit” and it became a big hit, selling about 8 million copies all over the world. The most successful single in this album is entitled “Bleeding Love” and landed on the first place spot in various hit charts all over the world. In addition to that, this was declared as the best-single album in the whole world in 2008.

In 2009, she released her second album entitled “Echo”. In 2010, she performed on carious live shows and gigs. In addition to that, she had her debut tour “Labyrinth”. In 2012, she launched her third album with the title of “Glass heart” which featured one of her hit single “Collide”. This single landed on the 5th place in the UK hit chart. After releasing some of her songs-- “trouble” and “Hurt: the EP”, she has had about nine top-ten hits in UK. Because of her amazing contribution to the music industry, she got seven nominations for Brit awards and three nominations for Grammy Awards. Lewis was able to sell 20 million copies of his album all over the world. According ti many people, Lewis is just like Whitney Houston in so many ways.
