About Kodaline

Kodaline is an Irish Rock band. The band was known as “21 Demands” in the early days, and later on the name was changed to Kodaline. In 2007, the band had made a history with their independently released song "Give Me A Minute". This song topped the chart in Irish within a very short time.

Steve Garrigan (Lead vocals, guitar and keyboard) and Mark Prendergast (lead guitar and backing vocals) grew up in Dublin. Both of them were very close and knew each other since early days. They attended a same school at Colaiste Choilm and used to participate in musical events and competitions. After some years, they met again and started to share their love of music with each other. They met Vinny May (drummer) who also lived in the same city united with Steve Garrigan and Mark Prendergast. The group started making music but it was not a complete band until 2012. They met Jason Boland (bassist) and recruited him in this band; the band stated making their own songs.

In 2012, they released their debut entitled “The Kodaline”. The album was hit but "All I Want" was a good work and played in BBC radio and it was also selected for background music by Google. The popularity of the band ultimately gave them a number of opportunities including the nomination for “Sound of 2013”. They released “In a Perfect World” in 2013 which was the first studio album of the band. This album contains 11 songs. And all songs were well composed by the band. In 2014, the band released "All I Want" for a film (The Fault in Our Stars). The band has been busy in making music for films. They released "High Hopes" and "Pray" for “Love, Rosie”, and “Horns”. The band does not only make rock music but also folk rock, alternative rock and Indie rock. The band has achieved some prestigious prizes and nominations which include MTV Brand New for 2013, BBC Sound of 2013 and EBBA Public Choice Award. The band has been regular in studio work as well as live shows/concerts in different places.
