Tracing her roots from Neptun (near Mangalia), Romania, Elena Alexandra Apostoleanu or more popularly known as Inna (a shorter form of Elena) was born on October 16, 1986. Inna took a degree at Ovidius University, after she finished her high school in Mangalia. She is a third-generation artist, with her grandmother and mother occasionally singing at community gatherings from time to time. Before becoming a professional artist, she was a shop assistant selling slippers in a local shop in Neptun.A Hot Road to Fame
The success of Inna’s career as a professional singer began in November 2008, after releasing her first single entitled “Hot”, as part of her debut album which carried the same title. The debut album was officially released in the market in August 2009. The song “Hot” was well received by the Romanian listeners, reaching top five in the Romanian Top 100 just a month after its first release. After the success of her fist single, Inna released her second single titled “Love” in March 2009 and reached a new height in her early career after it reaches top 4 in the Romanian Top 100.
From then on, Inna’s career has continued to flourish and she was able to release numerous successful songs including “Déjà Vu” and “Amazing” in 2009, “Sun is Up” in 2010, “Club Rocker”, “Un Momento” and “Endless” in 2011, "Tu şi eu" and “INNdiA” in 2012, “More than Friends” and “Be My Lover” in 2013.Awards and Achievements
2009 was a special year for Inna, as she received her first career nominations for Best Singer and Best Single at the Polish Eska Music Awards. On the same year, at the annual MTV Romania Music Awards, Inna was also nominated for four categories including “Best Show”, “Best Debut”, “Best Dance” and “Borderbreaker” awards. Inna successfully won in all of the four categories in that Award. The success of Inna continued at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2009 where she also bagged the “Best Romanian Act” award.
Among the other awards that Inna received include “Best Female Artist”, “Best Album” and “Best Show” in the MTV Romania Music Awards 2010, a second “Best Romanian Act” award in the MTV Europe Music Awards 2010 and Eurodanceweb Award 2010.
Inna’s international fame came in 2010 when her hit single “Hot” reached the top spot in the U.S. Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay chart. Early in 2009, “Hot” has also reached a milestone after it reached the certified Platinum status in the Spanish Singles Chart after it sold more than 40,000 copies. Inna’s first major concert happened in 2011 where she performed in six countries including Romania, France and Germany. After that, Inna has performed in several gigs in U.S., Mexico and Poland. The next solo concert of Inna has a scheduled tour date in January 2015.
