About Hollywood Undead

Formed in 2005, Hollywood Undead is a rock hip-hop band from Los Angeles, California. During the formative years, the group went through member changes due to internal violence. Afterwards, they created identities by using different names and masks; yet, sometimes perform without them. The bands current members are Funny Man, J-Dog, Johnny 3 tears, Da Kurlzz, Danny, and Charlie Scene.

After spending two years searching for a label, Hollywood Undead inked a deal with A&M Records. The delay came because other labels wanted to censor their music. The group wanted to keep their edgy sound, so they waited until the right representation came along. In 2008, they released their debut album, Swan Songs. The record reached No. 22 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 21,000 copies in its first week. Hollywood Undead followed their debut album touring with Skrillix and Blood Monkeys. In 2009, they dropped the follow-up EP, Swan Songs B-Side. During this time they also released their DVD, Desperate Measures. The EP received commercial acclaim continuing their success until the next year.

In 2010, original member Deuce departed from the band and Daniel Morillo (Danny) replaced him. Band members claim their relationship with the former singer had dissolved and it was time to move on. One year later, the group finished working on their next album.

American Tragedy received mixed reviews; yet, sold better than their first. Before the release, the band featured singles “Hear Me now,” and a few others on iTunes. Fans responded towards the new music and it reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200. Afterwards, Hollywood Undead played on the Revolt tour with 10 years and New Medicine to promote their new record. Later, they performed on another tour with popular rock band Avenged Sevenfold.

In 2013, the group released their third album, Notes From the Underground. The music contained the same Metallica/The Prodigy sound as before. Hollywood Undead’s record gained commercial acclaim and is their best-selling album to date. After a promotional tour, the group announced it will have a new album ready in the summer of 2014.
