About Gorky Park

Gorky Park or Парк Горького(Russian name) is a hard rock Russian band that was formed on 1987 in Moscow, Russia. The members are Alexander "Big Sasha" Minkov-Marshal (lead vocalist) Alexey Belov (guitarist, backing vocals, and keyboards)Yan Yanenkov (guitarist, backing vocals) and Alexander "Sasha" Lvov (drummer and percussionist). They had known through making hard rock and glam metal songs. It was started by Alexey Belov, Alexander Minkov, Yan Yanenkov, Alexander Lvov as well as Nikolay Noskov together with Staas Namin which became their manager. They were discovered by prominent artist such as Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora along with Frank Zappa, they give a hand to introduce them to Mercury Records.

The Band signed a recording contract with Mercury Label in which they released their first debut album self titled “Gorky Park” on 1989 that produced by Jon Bon Jovi & Richie, Mitch Goldfarb, Bruce Fairbairn and the band itself. It comprises with 11 tracks together with bonus track and also they collaborated with Annette Hardeman, Tico Torres, Richie Sambora, Charlene & Paula Holloway for the supplementary musician and Jon Bon Jovi on vocals. The album was ranked at number 9 in Norwegian Albums Charts while number 80 in Billboard 200. It consist also of their first video called “Fortress” and their concert video “Peace I Our Time”.

In Moscow Music Peace Festival were they had contributed together with Motley Crue, Ozzy Osbourne, the popular Cinderella, Scorpion as well as the prominent Bon Jovi. In 1993, they released their 2nd album called “Moscow Calling” by BMG International Records and introduced in Europe, Russia and USA that sold 500,000 copies followed by “Stare” in the year 1996 by Nox Records. In addition, they won the prestigious Grammy Award for Best International Act in which they had been more popular.

In the year 1998, they launched their 4th album entitled “Protivofazza” through Union Records the singles “Reaching” and “My Friend” which a tribute to their friend Andrei Grigoriev. They team up with Ron Powel, Ashot Akopjan and Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra. Aside from that it was also re-released in the year 2000 via Nox Music. Other band members got separated from the band to pursue solo career, but then the band continue on performing including in the Crocus City Hall in Moscow and lots of Russian Tour.
