About Glee Cast

Glee is an American series that is aired at Fox. The factors that led to the rising popularity of this series are the multi-talented cast and the interesting plots and twists of the story. This musical series focuses on a high school glee club named New Directions. Aside from the journey of New Directions towards getting their trophy, the story focuses on what happens in the lives of the members inside and outside choir practice. Areas like personal relationships, sexual and social aspects of a typical high school student’s life are the usual issues that Glee gives color and life to.

The creator of the series, Ryan Murphy, really made sure that all of the actors that will fill in the roles of the main casts have the necessary theatrical experience required to make the role come to life. Instead of the traditional method of looking for a cast, Ryan Murphy really took the time to find the most suitable actors for the show. He spent 3 months on Broadway shows, and here, he found Matthew Morrison (Will Schuester), Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) and Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina Cohen-Chang). These actors had all the much-needed background Ryan Murphy needed. In fact, the character of Rachel was specifically created for Lea Michele.

The other casts of Glee had no theatrical experience, but they nevertheless impressed Ryan Murphy. Chris Kolfer (Kurt Hummel) auditioned for the character, Artie Abrams. After hearing Chris sing, Ryan created a new character, Kurt Hummel, specifically for him.

Other actors who had to audition for the show by showing off their singing, dancing and acting abilities were Jayma Mays (Emma Pillsbury), Cory Monteith (Finn Hudson), Kevin McHale (Artie Abrams) and Dianna Agron (Quinn Fabray). These actors were exposed to different genres and they came from largely divergent backgrounds. Nonetheless, Ryan Murphy was downright convinced that he made the right choice, especially since he wanted Glee to show mixes of different kinds of music. Unlike other musical shows, Glee is a combination of classic, rock, contemporary, and R&B genres, and it aims to offer the audience a wide range of musical flavour.
