About Franz Ferdinand
Franz Ferdinand is a Scottish pop/indie rock that was formed on the year 2002 in Scotland. The band member consisted of Alex Kapranos (Lead Vocals, guitar and keyboard) he was born on March 20, 1972, Bob Hardy (Bass Guitar) born on August 16, 1980, Nick McCarthy (Rhytm Guitar, backing vocals and Keyboard) born on December 13, 1974 and Paul Thomson (Drums, Percussion and backing vocals) was born on September 15, 1976. The Band’s name was from racehorse called Archduke Ferdinand and the Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand on World War 1.
The band signed a recording contract to Independent Record label and Domino Records on May 2003. They won the prize in the NME Awards of 2004 “Phillip Hall Rader Award” in the month of November. They introduced their first debut album “Franz Ferdinand” that recorded in Malmo, Sweden and produced by Tore Johansson. This album reached number 3 in UK Albums Chart and number 12 in Australian Album Chart on April and had voted for Best Alternative Album in Grammy Award for the Franz Ferdinand album. The album was won the Mercury Music Prize 2004 and the track “Take Me Out” was hit the top 1 in Australian Triple J Hottest 100. While in the year 2005, the track’s video received Breakthrough Video MTV award and got the “Best Album of 2004”.
The second album “You Could Have It so Much Better:” that was released on October 3, 2005 produced by Rich Costey and followed by their 3rd album called “Tonight: Franz Ferdinand” on January 26, 2009 by Domino Records in UK. The single “Ulysses” is the first single played in BBC Radio 1 and got available on iTunes and MySpace. The Bands second single “No You Girls” became a cover of Britney Spears’s single “Womanizer” and the band played in Glastonbury Festival. On the other hand, Franz Ferdinand got 19 days tour in USA and they perform as a 3rd opener in Green days 21st Century Breakdown World Tour.
In 2010, they start working their 4th album and they released the album on August 26, 2013 called “Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action” and they held a concert on August 20, 2013 in Electric Brixton. London with 1, 500 audiences followed on August 21, 2013 on Glasgow.
