About Foals

Foals is an indie rock band that was formed on 2005 in Oxford, England. The band comprises with Yannis Philippakis (lead vocal, guitar, drums), Edwin Congreave (Keyboard, synthesizer, backing vocals), Walter Gervers (Bass, backing vocals, percussion), Jack Bevan (drums, percussion) and Jimmy Smith (rhythm guitar, Rhodes, backing vocals, synthesizer). The band was discovered by Andrew Mears which is a former member of the band. They were arranged together after their former bands were separated and formed a new one it is called “Foals”.

The band begins with their first released called “Antidotes” on March 24, 2008 by Transgressive Records and it was produced by the band and Dave Sitek. The album contains the single ‘Cassius’, “Red Socks Pugie” and “Balloons” in which the album was ranked at number 3 in UK Albums Charts while number 28 in Top Seekers.

2 years later, they released their 2nd album called “Total Life Forever” on 10th of May 2010 that was produced by Luke Smith. The album was recorded on September 2009 in Svenska Grammofon Studios Gothenburg, Sweden and it comprises of 11 tracks. It was nominated in 2011 NME Awards as Best Album, Best Album artwork and Best Track for the song “Spanish Sahara”. Their 3rd album was called “Holy Fire” on February 11, 2012 through Warner Bros and Transgressive Records that was produced by Flood together with Alan Moulder. They collaborated with Leif Podhajsky (artwork), Thomas Nebbia (photography), Lonodn Contemporary Orchestra and Ric Elsworth. It was also nominated as Best Album on 2013 Mercury Prize and charted at number 1 in Australian Albums Chart, and number 86 in US Billboard 200.

The band performed in many tours including in Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam Royal Albert Hall in London as well as in Latitude Festival in UK and Festival Republic to promote the album. They also released 6 EP’s including the iTunes Festival: London 2010 that was out on July 2010 and Metropolis Session on December 6, 2010. In addition, they also introduced 16 singles that embarked in music charts all over the world.

As the band became well known, they had also recognized as one of the promising band in which they received lots of awards consists of Best Live Act, Best Track for “Inhaler” and also they were nominated as Best Album, Best Act in the World Today for the albums Holy Fire and Foals. The band gets their way in fame through their music which they gained support in many DJ’s and receive positive reviews from critics and also from their fans.
