About Empire of the Sun

Empire of The Sun is composed of two Australian musicians who love electronic music. This duo is made up of Luke Steele and Nick Little more.

Formation of The Band

In 2000, the duo met in a bar in  Sydney. During that time, the two was already working in the music industry. They already have two independent projects when they met. The formation of the band was a slow one. Even before they realize that they have a good chemistry together, they were already collaborating with each other for many years. They both worked with a new project (that would soon become the Empire of the Sun). During that time, they have no idea that they will form a band together. They lived wolds apart but they were both working on songs for that project and they would meet up with each other from time to time. After finishing the songs, they finally went to record the final materials. All of the songs and tunes were produced by themselves. The name of the band was gotten from the idea that the band will be traveling and holding their concert tours to the places where the empires of the civilization where sun worship takes place.

The Band's Road To fame

In 2008, they released their debut album “Walking on A Dream”. The album first ranked eighth in the ARIA Albums chart and it later reached the sixth rank. In 2009, they released their second single entitled “We Are The People” which reached the 24th ranking in Australia. The song is used in various advertising campaigns for the Vizio televisions. Their second album has gotten mixed reactions because most of the fans and authority in the music industry were disappointed with the songs included in their second half. In 2013, they released their second album entitled “Ice on the Dune”.

Tours and Media Appearances

In 2009, the band announced their first ever appearance in a music festival. It took place in the Parklife Festival in Australia.many perceived the two as a studio band but they changed that thinking when they performed live together with la Roux and Lady Sovereign in the said festival. After a five month separation of the duo, they reunited and decided to work on another album.
