About Elvis Presley

On 8th day of January 1935, the well known music icon was born named Elvis Aaron Presley. The legend was born in Mississippi but moved to Tennessee in his teenage year. Elvis originally had a twin brother named Jesse Garon Presley. But the baby died inside the uterus, making Elvis the only child. He is also known as “the King of Rock and Roll.”

In his school East Tupelo Consolidated, Elvis was encouraged by his teachers to join a singing contest. On October of 1945, the ten year old Elvis sang “Old Shep” at his first ever live performance at a country fair “Mississippi-Alabama Fair and Dairy Show.” Unexpectedly the following month, he received a guitar as his birthday gift. Although he rather prefers a bike or a rifle as a gift, he studied playing guitar. Young as he is, he even said that he will not consider singing in public again. By the age of twelve, Elvis conquered his stage fright and became popular on his junior year. Elvis never enrolled in a music school, he only developed his listening skills to study and play music.

On August of 1953, Elvis recorded two songs dedicated to his mother, entitled “My Happiness” and “That’s When Your Heartaches Begin.”

Elvis’ first single became the number one hit in US on January 1956 entitled “Heartbreak Hotel.” This year he also debut in the film “Love Me Tender.” The following year Elvis released his self entitled debut album.

1958. Elvis was chosen to be part of military service.  1960. Elvis resume his career as a musician and pursue more acting careers in Hollywood. 1968. After much exposure on the previous years, Elvis decided to take a break out of any live performances for seven long years. 1973. Elvis had his first ever globally broadcasted concert via satellite and live from Hawaii. By the age of 42 on the year of 1977, the legend Elvis Presley died due to drug abuse.

At the early stage of his career, Elvis knew that his music was different compared to other music artists. Elvis made a history record of being the “Best-selling Solo Artist” in the music industry, selling over 600 million units all over the world. In his music career, he received fourteen Grammy nominations and was able to win three of those. He was also included in different hall of fame. At the age of 36, Elvis received Grammy’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
