About Eagles of Death Metal

Eagles of Death Metal is a California n rock band formed in 1998. Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme were interested to form a rock band, so they recruited other members and began practicing. The name of the band has nothing to do with the Death Metal music.

The band first appeared on The Desert Sessions Volumes 3 & 4 (by Josh Homme's). But Homme was busy with some other projects and he was unable to find time for his band. But later, he admitted that he had been working in two bands.

The band’s first album was released in 2004, “Peace, Love, Death Metal”. This album was commercially successful because many songs were used by many TV ads like Comcast, Ask.com, Nissan Motors, Payless ShoeSource, Pontiac Motors, Budweiser and Wendys. Even, their music was taken for the films like “Thank You for Smoking” and “Grindhouse”. The first track of the album, “I Only Want You," was used in game music, Gran Turismo 4. And when Microsoft would launch windows 8, it also used the music track. a manufacturer of skateboard shoes (Globe Shoes) also chose that song in film entitled, United By Fate. Another song, "Miss Alissa" was taken by Nike's FIFA World Cup 2014 campaign video producer.

Eagles of Death Metal released their second album, “Death by Sexy”. After the release of this album, the band toured in US with Joan Jett. One of the tracks, "Chase the Devil" was taken for Tony Hawk's Project 8 soundtrack. "Cherry Cola" was taken in a Microsoft Zune advertisement, and "Don't Speak" was used in Epic Movie.

Their third album, “Heart On” came in 2008 which was accompanied by a North American musical tour.

In 2010, the bassist of the band was detected with cancer. At that time, the band had to do something to raise fund for the treatment. So the band announced a concert at Brixton Academy (London). In 2011, Jesse Hughes came up with a solo album called Honkey Kong
