Armand Van Helden and A-Trak are DJ’s from New York that worked together forming a duo. The duo focused on producing disco house music that will be used in different clubs. The duo released “aNYway” and “You’re Nasty”, emphasizing “NY” to show where they originated. Greatest Hits EP was released on 15th of July 2010.
The duo released another track entitled “Barbara Streisand.” It was first played in Miami’s Winter Music Conference. And then, DJ all over US, Europe, Australia and the rest of the world played and liked the song. The song was then aired in different commercial radio stations making it more popular. It reached the 3rd spot in UK Singles Chart, 1st in AUS ARIA Club Chart, and 1st in US Billboard’s Dance/Club Play Songs Chart. Due to its popularity, this song won the title of “Best Underground Dance Track”, also got a nomination for “Best House/Garage Track” and got the duo nominated for “Best Break-Through Artist.” This single was also featured on one of Glee’s episode. The music video reached less than seventy million views. It is also used in one of the commercials of Vitamin Water.
2011. “Big Bad Wolf” was first aired on BBC Radio. The music video became controversial since they replaced human heads to genitals in the video. Like the previous track, this also won the “Best Underground Dance Track” title and nominated as “Best Music Video.”
2013. “Its You” preview was shown in Facebook, and officially released days after. The concept of their music video is transforming a barber shop into a big dance party. The music video was nominated at MTV Video Music Awards on the 25th of August that took place in New York. Their next single was “Radio Stereo.” They remake the song “Radio” in the year of 1982. The song was known for its chorus “We listen to the radio! It’s better than the stereo.” The song writer of the original song, Nigel Bennett, commented that he was happy the duo discovered and remake his song.
2014. Their album “Quack” was released on 15th of April. The duo had been working with Fool’s Gold Records for this album. Tracks previously released were included in this album. The single “NRG” was declared the “Hottest Record in the World” by Zane Lowe. This album was out on CDs and downloadable in the internet. The duo had scheduled tour all over US, Canada and Mexico this said year.
