About Dead Monkeys

Originally known as "Nude Lady with Foam", the band formed in 1978 when Ken O'Keefe transported his drum kit over to guitarist Don Carlow's house in Crown Heights, a Poughkeepsie, NY suburb. They were joined by Neal Spaulding on the electric bass. Two years later, Carlow left Poughkeepsie for a position at Carvel Ice Cream in Florida. He was replaced with Kevin Quinn who took up the electric bass while Neal moved nonchalantly into the guitar slot. It was then that the Dead Monkeys began to cover songs off of Kevin's older brother Mike's record collection and write material of their own (Last.fm)
