Troy Beetles is also known as Datsik (a stage name). He was born in 1988 in Canada. Troy Beetles is now a well known DJ, music producer and composer. His name started to flourish with his first release in 2009. When he saw Excision’s performance at the Shambhala electronic music festival, he was greatly inspired and it was in 2008. Soon, Beetles started to collaborate with Excision and release a number of tracks in 2009 and 2010. 2009 was a great year for Beetles. He released a number of tracks on Beatport. He started getting offers to collaborate with many great DJs and producers like Diplo, The Crystal Method and Wu-Tang Clan. And he successfully performed with many popular figures like DJ Craze, Steve Aoki, Bassnectar, Nero and Skream. Beetles considers his music to be very "dark and robotic" which is influenced by Method Man and Wu-Tang Clan members RZA. In 2012, he could release his debut album entitled “Vitamin D” .which was done by Dim Mak Records as well as Last Gang Records. The album contained 12 songs plus appearances from Infected Mushroom, Downlink, Jonathan Davis, Z-Trip, Messinian as well as Snak the Ripper.
In 2012, Datsik had established a record label which is known as Firepower Records. The name of his record label came from his previous hit record. Datsik is now very busy, active and prominent musician who has been collaborating with a number of great musicians as well as producers. Datsik produced “Cold Blooded” EP as well as “Let It Burn” LP from this label. He has performed in a number of festivals around the world which include Ultra Music Festival, Coachella, Stereosonic, EDC Las Vegas, Boonstock, Electric Zoo, Shambhala Music Festival, Identity and other festivals. He has released a number of remixes throughout his musical career.
Datsik has been regular in musical tours. In 2014, he is participating in U.K. tour. He is working hard to release his next musical work soon. Datsik is a very young musician who got fame within a very short period of time.
