About Crystal Castles

Crystal Castle is an electronic band that was formed in Toronto in 2004. The band’s members are Ethan Kath (born on December 25, 1982) and Alice Glass (was born on August 27, 1988). Alice is the co-writer and lead vocalist while Ethan is the songwriter and producer.

Ethan met Alice when she was fifteen years old; they started their collaboration together when Ethan asked Alice to record the tracks that he had been written. While she is recording, an engineer attracted by her melancholic voice and he secretly record her voice. But Ethan found out the secret and he released it online with the name “Alice Practice”.

In 2005, the soundtracks became big hit online and as opportunity goes they received many offers. “Alice Practice” became their first single that released in the year 2006 by London’s Merok Records. A limited edition had been come out between 2006 and 2007 by London’s Trouble Records. In the year 2006- 2009 they recruit Christopher Chartrand, Cameron Findlay (Kontravoid), Mike Bell (Lymbc System) and Thomas Cullen (present Dj) as their drummer.

Crystal Castle released their compilation of their single in the year 2008. They added three tracks and it became their major debut album and ranked number 39 in top 100 Greatest Albums of the Decade. The band’s 2nd album entitled “Crystal Castles II” was revealed on May 24, 2010 and reached number 48 in UK chart. Their 3rd album was “Not in Love” shows in Shockwaves NME Awards Tour 2011 in UK feat. Robert Smith.

They performed in Parklife 2012 on June 9 that was uploaded in YouTube, following their second single called “Wrath of God” that released on September 26, 2012 and their album’s cover is posted on their Facebook Account. While their 3rd single named “Affection” was released on October 31 of the same year.

The band undergo in some controversies in the year 2008, they had been accused that they used the Trevor’s artwork on their songs without permission and also the picture of Black eyed Madonna. They had been undergo on some legal actions to bought the image. Addition to that, Eithan included some tracks that are illegally incorporated. But as the band respect to the original song, they had been settling it and keep on releasing their new tracks.
