Chromeo is a duo which creates music that falls under the category of electro-funk. The duo was formed in Montreal and is composed of two former hip hop producers namely, Pee Thug and Dave One (not their real given names). Dave is both the vocalist and guitarist while Pee is the one in charge for handling, playing (and rocking) the talk box-wielding synthesizer. The two met during their college days and they consider themselves as childhood friends. Because of their love for music, the two decided to work together to create amazing music.
During the early years of their music career, the duo have made it clear that their music will be about artful detachment, retro breakdowns., gleaming beats and not your typical serious musical regime change. In late 2003, the duo has released their first single entitled “Destination Overdrive”. In this album, you can hear their single “Needy Girl” along with a DFA remix.Their debut album, “She's in Control” became the trademark of their music and that is what jump started their musical career. However, it was “Needy Girl” that became a big hit in various clubs worldwide. This song was able to reach different parts of the world and have been played by various DJ. In 2006, they lent their musical skills in creating the song “ I am Body”. In 2007, they went on a British Tour as a support for Bloc Party.
After taking a break for almost three years, they finally launched their second album with the title of “Fancy Footwork” which gained positive reviews. Their third album “Business Casual” came into the scene in 2010. In the same year, they have released their music video for their single “Night By Night” and it has garnered 4 million views. In 2011, they announced that they will release the shortest and smallest album which featured only 55 songs and runs for only 183 seconds. In 2014, the duo released their fourth album with the title “White Women”.
