CARLY RAE JEPSEN
Carly Rae Jepsen is a Canadian singer/songwriter that was born on November 21, 1985 in Mission, British Columbia. She studied in Heritage Park Secondary School in Mission and later on, she attended Canadian of Performing Arts in British Columbia. Carly joined the Canadian Idol Season Five and she became the third placer of the competition that was accompanied by a Canadian Idol tour.
After the tour, she went back to her homeland were she put attention on writing as well as recording and the band. Eventually, she signed a recording contract with Simkin Artist Management along with Dexter Entertainment and MapleMusic Recordings.
Carly released her first debut single on June 16, 2008 entitled “Sunshine on My Shoulders” followed by two more songs “Bucket” with “Heavy Lifting”. Few months later, she introduced her first debut album that was called “Tug of War” on September 30, 2008 through MapleMusic with Fontana North Records and produced by Ryan Stewart. It contains 10 tracks in which she collaborated with Denver with Dick Kniss and Mike Taylor in the song “Sunshine on My Shoulders” while Jepsen and Josh Ramsay in “Sour Candy”. The album was re-released on 2011 and 2013 through 604 Records and Alliance Entertainment in US.
Carly received positive feedback on many critics as well as co-artists including the teen couple Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber who heard her song in Canada and featured her on their Twitter account. In that time Carly caught the attention of many people through her 2nd album called “Kiss” that was released on 14th of September 2012 through 604, Schoolboy and Interscope Records. It contains the popular single “Good Time” and “Call Me Maybe” in which became viral on social networking sites as well as in YouTube. The album was included in Billboard 200 at number 6 while number 5 in Canadian Albums Chart that sold 46, 000 copies on its primary week. In addition, it became Album of the Year and Pop Album of the year in JUNO Awards 2013 plus, it was nominated as Song of the Year and another one in Grammy Awards.
She was featured in The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon as she performed the song “Call Me Maybe” and also in The Ellen DeGeneres Show as well as in 5th Season Premiere of The CW’s 90210. She also performed in many tours including the Believe Tour together with Justin Bieber and Cody Simpson, the Kiss Summer Tour to promote her album around North Amercica and Asia with the bands “The Wanted and Hot Chelle Rae.
