Sebu Simonian and Ryan Merchant-- the duo behind Capital cities are two composer from Los Angeles. The duo first met in Craigslist in 2008. At first, they worked as jingle writers. They soon found themselves forming an indie electronic band that is Capital Cities. This happened two years after they first met. In 2001, they they released their first EP (independently) which feature the song “Safe and Sound". This song was virally shared in the social media sites and other websites because of its collection of upbeat melody and synths. It is also through special media that the two discovered that their song is being played by a radio station in Peru. They decided to build a connection with their fans in Lima. In order to get this done, they organized concerts, live shows and gigs all over South America.
They loved the experience from these concert tours and they were inspired to fund their very own promotional campaign, which allowed them to be featured in a radio station in the United States. With that single step, they garnered the recognition and attention of music lovers as well as the authority in the music industry. The indie label Lazy Hooks finally offered a contract to the duo. Under this record, they released their debut album “In A Tidal Wave of Mystery:. This all happened in 2013.
Their hit song “:Safe and Sound” became multi-platinum in four countries-- Mexico, Germany, Canada and the US. In addition to that. It reached top ranks in various music hit charts.
