About Blue Foundation

The Danish band Blue Foundation was started by Tobias Wilner, a Danish singer-producer, in 2000. From 2000 to present, its members have continuously changed which includes musicians like Scott Martingell, Sune Martin and many more. Currently, the band is composed of Wilner and Bo Rande (a multi-instrumentalist). Among the band’s musical influences are Broadcast, Can, My Bloody Valentine and DJ Krush (Hideaki Ishi).

Setting Up the Blue Foundation

After Wilner formed the initial group, Blue Foundation released their first 7” vinyl record Hollywood & Hide in March 2000 under the label Moshi Moshi Records. Soon after a year, the band released its self-titled debut album under April Records on January 19, 2001. The album contained 13 tracks.  Three years after, the band completed their second album Sweep of Days which was officially released in February 2004. The album has a total of 12 songs, including the single “Sweep” which became one of the hit songs of the group after it was included in the soundtrack of the Hollywood action film Miami Vice in 2006.

Eyes on Fire and Beyond

“Eyes on Fire” was probably the most successful hit song of the band, after it became part of the official soundtrack for the novel-turned-movie box office hit Twilight in 2008. The song was included in the third album of the band entitled Life of a Ghost released in September 2007under the label Astralwerks and reached the double platinum record status in the first half of 2009. In 2009, Wilner started his own label DPC Records to promote the music of the band and his own music under his stage name Bichi. A few of the original songs released by Bichi later became singles for the band.

Aside from Miami Vice and Twilight, the music of the band was also heard in the European documentary picture Tankograd where the band played two songs in its soundtrack, and in television shows including The O.C. and So You Think You Can Dance. The group also collaborated with fellow artists  Mark Kozelek for the single “Watch You Sleeping” in 2009 and Jonas Bjerre for the remix of the song “Window Pane”, which helped increase the band’s fan base.

From 2004 to 2012, the Blue Foundation performed in concert tours across the globe including tour dates in Denmark, Sweden, Russia and Ukraine. In May 2014, the band began exploring the Asian market with their live performances in Beijing and Shanghai, China.
