Blink 182 is a rock band formed on Poway, California in 1992. The band consists of Mark Hoppus (Bassist/Vocals), Tom Delonge (Guitar/Vocals) and Tracvis Barker (Drummer). The band was known for the named “BLINK” but an Irish band which also named as “Blink” takes its legal action so they added 182. The bands genre was pop rock, alternative and skate punk music.
The bands member met in their high school years where they got their first show. Soon after, they graduated and perform in local places like “The Dungeon” and “Soma”. They got also the opportunity to perform in “Soul kitchen” in El Cajon but it not takes long. The band was discovered by Cargo Records and they given a chance to be a part of it through “Trial Basis”. ‘O’ (a guitarist from the band Fluf) and Brahm Goodis lend a hand to them.
After a long wait, they released their first studio album called “Cheshire Cat” on February 17, 1995 by Cargo Music and produced by Otis Barthoulameu and the band. It was peaked number 27 in New Zealand RIANZ to 40 Albums and got 60,000 sold out copies in UK that got Certified Silver Records. Followed by “Dude Ranch” that was released on June 17, 1997 by Cargo Music and MCA Records. They signed a contract with MCA in the 1996 and this is the last album released by Cargo as well as the last drum session for Scott Raynor due to his dismissal in the band. This album was got peaked number 25 in the Australian RIAA Chart, number 67 in US Billboard 200 and top 1 in Top Heatseekers. Aside from that, it was Certified Platinum in Australia that sold 70,000 copies, 2x Platinum in Canada sold for 200,000, Gold in UK for 100,000 and Platinum in US for 1,000,000 copies.
One year later, they launched another album called ‘Enema of the State” with its single “All the small things” that ranked number 1 in Modern Rock Tracks and number 6 in Billboard Hot 100. Its video was won in 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. The album was sold 15,000,000 copies around the world.
In the year 2001 to 2003, they released two album called “Take Off Your Pants and Jacket” produced by Jerry Finn and collaboration with Roger Joseph Manning JR. in the keyboard. While in 2003 a self titled “Blink-182” released by Geffen Records and produced by Jerry Finn. They also collaborated with “The Cure and Robert Smith. It was a very successful album for them because it was sold for a million copies all over the world.
