About Björk

Björk Guðmundsdóttir also known as BJORK is a singer/songwriter/composer/musician/actress that was born November 21, 1965 in Iceland. She was a former member of Sugarcubes in the year 1987 and separated her way band and makes her solo career in the year 1993. She was studied piano and flute lesson in Reykjavík School Barnamúsíkskóli and she sang “I love to love” for their recital and her teacher send her piece to RUV radio station and she was discovered by Falkinn Record label and offered her to sign a recording contract.

Her first released was a self-titled “Bjork” on December 18, 1977 and it consists of vinyl and cassette (limited edition) that contain an Icelandic version of “The Fool on the hill by Beatles” and also “Your kiss is Sweet by Stevie Wonders”.

Bjork 2nd album was “Debut” that was released on July 5, 1993 (UK) and July 13, 1993 (US) by One little Indian (UK) and Elektra (US) produced by Nellee Hooper and Bjork itself. The album was certified gold (Canada) and Platinum in US.

Her 3rd album was “Post” that was introduced on June 13, 1995 in UK while June 16, 1995 in US that was ranked in many countries including Canada and Europe. After 2 years, she introduced her 4th album called “Homogenic” that was out on September 22, 1997 through One little Indian and she got the opportunity to performed in Brazil, Chile as well Argentina and it was successful as it is.

Bjork continue releasing her 5th album entitled “Vespertine” on August 27, 2001 produced by Thomas Knak, Marius de Vries, Amrtin Gretschmann and Bjork itself. It was a certified rapid selling album of all times and sold 2 million copies all over the world.

In the year 2004, she launched “Medulla” that was out on 30th August by Warner Bros. She worked with choral, throat singing as well as beat boxing with Mike Patton, Robert Wyatt along with Dokaka. Bjork performed live in Oceania (International Olympic Committee) in the opening of 2004 Olympic Games. Next was “Volta” in May 1, 2007 with her different style in music featuring Antony Hegarty, Min Xiao-fen and Toumani Diabate and her 8th album was “Biophilla” in the year 2011. She held 7 concerts all over the world that with sold out tickets and many audiences that full the concert venue. She was a prominent singer and received respect all over the world.
