Now widely known for the alias Basto, he is also a part of the well-known dance group, Lasgo. Jef Martens is best known for producing Azelia Banks’ hit single, entitled “212”. In the like manner, he also collaborated and co-produced a couple of singles for Lasgo in the years 2009 and 2010. The success of Jef Martens did not stop there as he continued to bring a different kind of beat and rhythm to stages worldwide.
Rocking the stage with his upbeat mixes, Basto started his career in the year 2005. With the help of his single, “Rock With You’, he became a household name throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. In 2008, his popularity became more intense as he collaborated with Peter Luts for the song, “On My Own”. Not only did Basto become a top-of-the-line DJ in these two countries, but he also received chart success in France through his album entitled “Gregory’s Theme” in the year 2011. Originally, the song was an orchestral piece intended for Hugh Lorie’s iconic TV character in the famous series, Dr. House. To make the song more upbeat, Basto transformed it into a dance record. This helped him gain more popularity, making him a top DJ throughout the country.
Success after that was rapid. He created mixes for iconic artists like Sander Van Doom and Kylie Minogue, and turned ordinary music into captivating sounds. Every great musician was mesmerized with the way he mixed different kinds of melody and rhythm, and this is why he became more and more popular. His successful dance hit, “Again and Again”, made him receive international success. A year later, he produced the hit, “Scream and Shout”, for no other than Britney Spears and Will I Am. His latest singles are the albums “Keep on Rocking” and “Electric Stars” in the year 2014.
