Band of Horses is playing a good mix of mid tempo rock and some reverb laden vocals. The group was formed in 2004. Among their greatest works is Everything All the Time, which had brought them into spotlight.
Original members of the group include Brooke and Bridwell. They did an early concert together with Iron and Wine and were able to impress Sub Pop Records. The group was signed by the company in 2005 and reissued their EP later that year. During that time, they also recorded their full debut album. It was released in 2006 and was very much appreciated by fans worldwide.
Months later, one of their members, Brooke left the group and joined Grand Archives. Bridwell, together with some solid group mates like Barett and Hampton, did a lot of performances in Europe to further promote their debut album.
The group returned to America and moved to South Carolina to be near their loved ones. Not so long after, they entered the studio together with Phil Ek, their producer, to do their next project. “Cease to Begin” was launched in 2007 and has gained warm reviews. It also ranked 35th on the Billboard charts, thus making the band enjoy a huge commercial success and a very warm welcome from many rock enthusiasts worldwide.
Even though the group had spent almost 2 years on the road, they have found time to come back to the recording studio, where they started recording for their 3rd album in 2009.
With Infinite Arms, all members of the band had contributed in doing the lyrics. It was indeed a strong and successful collaborative effort between Barrett, Bridwell, and new members like Reynolds, Ramsey, and Monroe.
This hit shelves in 2010, marking the group’s first work for Columbia Records. They have likewise earned a Grammy for this. And because they wanted to take a more grounded approach on their next album, they have decided to get the iconic Glyn Johns as their producer. He has helped the group a lot, especially in experimenting on a more intimate and live approach.
Preceded by the hit “Knock, Knock”, the group’s album “Mirage Rock” was released last 2012.
Earlier this year, a live album, “Acoustic at the Ryman” was released. It was a compilation of hits recorded in a more stripped-down manner during a 2-night stint Nashville's Ryman Auditorium last spring.
Much more is still expected from this group. Fans are still waiting for their concerts and new releases.
