In her youth, Oliver experienced the everyday struggles of adolescent girls. An article by the Sun, revealed she was bullied at a young age. The singer admitted to going home crying on many occasions because she didn’t fit in. When Oliver turned 13, she recorded a video of her singing Adele’s “Someone like You.” After uploading it to YouTube, the video received over 1 million views. The attention gave her confidence to move forward with her career.

In 2012, Oliver appeared on the popular entertainment show, X Factor. She did extremely well, placing third in the competition and received praise from all of the judges. After going through the show, the singer placed third garnering her worldwide attention. Soon, she inked a record deal with Xenomania for the amount 500,000 Eros and began her career as a musician. In 2012, she finished her studio work and began releasing singles from her new album. All three songs including “Shut Up,” “You Bring me Joy,” and “Party Over,” did well on UK and ITunes music charts.

One year later, her debut album, Be a Fighter released to critical and commercial success. The record featured a modern pop sound combined with dubstep instrumentation. Being her first album, Oliver’s style captured several different genres without sticking to one theme. She followed by supporting other acts on major tours. One performance included a show at Chester Rocks with Jessie J and Lawson. Oliver also received the opportunity to support Olly Murs at the INTRO Festival. Afterwards, she headed back to the studio to begin work on her next project.
